We got news yesterday that dad has to go in for another surgery today. He has been leaking bile and it is behind his liver which means that they have to open him up to repair the leak. This is a set back for dad. He will be in the ICU for at least a day and on an IV for three days- basically, he will have to start the recovery process over. The doctors feel that this is necessary and in the long run it will be better. We are hoping for the best! Dad seemed to be in good spirits when we talked to him about the surgery. He said that he has come this far, might as well not give up now. He said that one bad birthday was not even a sacrifice if it meant he could have many more birthdays. We love you dad!

  1. I know you kids probably don't remember me from when I worked for you dad, but I am SO GLAD you have a blog to keep us all up on how he is doing. I have been so worried about him and your sweet, sweet mom since I found out about the transplant and am glad I can now be updated without "bothering" anyone. He and your family are in my prayers!

  3. So, today when I had more time I went back and through MANY tears read all that your family has been going through. I can't believe the pictures of your dad. He has lost SO MUCH weight even since I saw him...probaby a year ago. I am so glad the surgery went well and hope it does speed up his recovery.
